salt-water damaged dial
Hi-
I purchased a sub dial that was recently damaged by the watch flooding with salt water. What is the best way to remove the salt contamination from the dial without ruining it? Can I soak or clean it in any way? I don't want any salt residue touching the movement. Any suggestions? |
There is no real between the dial and the movement so if salt water got to the dial it got to the movement as well.
The watch needs proper servicing and it needs it now or else it is toast. [Edit] Just realized you bought only the dial. I would think washing with fresh water and allowing to dry completely would remove the salt residue. |
If its contaminated with salt then its probably done. If there is only a slight residue (which would be unlikely) then washing/wiping/rubbing it would be very risky.
Adding any moisture to it may cause further damage, it could affect the lume or cause more damage to the paint. Good luck. |
