I have just visited the Ian Blowers website, intrigued by your comments. I am a modest GMT vintage aficionado. To my surprise, watch reference no A1177 looks like a GMT PCG, and the 24 hrs hand is big size. Not necessarily a fake, but I'd definitely stay away from this watch. Are we sure their reputation is as pristine as we declare here? Thanks for help.

It looks like the hands and the dial have been replaced, it should have a gilt dial and a small 24h hand. You can always ask them questions, the buyers should do research before they buy the watch anyways. :cheers:

I fully agree w your comments. Let's just make sure that this list is not taken blindly by any of us,experienced or less so...... And that everybody understands that due diligence on vintage stuff is compulsory. I live in china so we know what I'm talking about..... A minefield.

How many have purchased and received vintages from some of the guys I have heard about like Mark, Jed, Erik, Steve, Andrew, JAcek so can update with a green *?. I need 2 Yay's for each seller to put in a star.

NB: While this list serves to collate all vintage watch dealers forumers have possibly dealt with (from fellow forumers comments above) in one place, it in no way is a measure of the quality/originality of the watches that are on sale with them. Please conduct your own due diligence before you make any purchases by asking questions on the forum, posting pictures, getting references, etc. Also please notify us of any concerns and if the forumers agree I can take them off this list.

Clearly all watches need to be checked for originality especially when there is a long history behind them. What I like about Ian Blowers is the 7 day no quibble return and 1 year guarantee if you choose to keep the watch.

They are quite obviously a more regular watch shop and will not have the particular Rolex expertise on originality of people like Jed, Eric, Mike, Jacek etc. However, they are a great source of watches at very good prices and are definitely not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. But you will clearly need to do your due diligence on originality when buying vintage. That is always the case and obviously TRF and VRF are great places to check such things out.

But how many sellers give you a full 7 days to make your mind up and then give you a one year guarantee if you choose to keep it? :thumbsup: Hence my recommendation.

I can personally vouch for Jed, Andrew Shear, Steve M, Jacek, and Ben. :thumbsup:

Sorry to press this point but your comment just annoyed me :thumbsdow I therefore checked the website and ref A1177 - which you clearly didn't perhaps other than the first few photos! The description of this GMT states there is a service guarantee dated 2011. If you then check the last photo there is a photo of the actual Rolex Service guarantee card dated 18 Feb 2011!!!! So guess who most probably replaced the hands - yes, good old Rolex as they will do with any of our vintage watches without clear and detailed instructions not to. So your comments about " not necessarily a fake" are way off the mark!
