93150 clasp - Blades with a huge gap?

1 Attachment(s)
Sorry for the poor description, but the 93150 on the 5513 I just bought seems to have a huge gap in the clasp; between the thin metal blades.

Because of the gap, it opens at the slightest pressure when the fliplock isn't engaged which can't be right.

Any advice? Happy to bend the blades, but don't want to do it without guidance!

Thanks in advance!

That looks to be roughly the same as the gap on my 93150 on my 14060. Not sure if it's "normal" though.

Maybe something else is amiss with the clasp. Like the buckle hooks aren't catching properly so that the fliplock becomes necessary to fully secure it.

Not sure

You have to open the buckle completely then the extender piece which is attached to the buckle has to be bent to lock it to the other half then snap back in once that is done and it stays the 2 bigger folding parts the part closest to the buckle bend it in the direction of the bend the othe bend it in the opposite direction of the bend this closes the distance between the buckle and where it closes when shut. It's easy to do but hard to describe see it once and you never forget how to do it. Good luck small bends inch up on it. Rik

So I was utterly perplexed by Rikki's post. I decided to start bending the blades this-way-and-that to see if I could straighten mine up a bit. Unfortunately, after about 10 seconds I got my watch to the point where the bracelet wouldn't stay closed at all...it wasn't catching AT ALL.

After a bit more bending...I actually got it to a point where it locks VERY tightly now (just right, in my mind).

I'll tell you what I did to "tighten" things up. First of all, I'll call the folding parts of the bracelet the "blades" (for lack of a better term). So, when the bracelet is closed and on your wrist, one blade is against your skin (which I'll call the INSIDE blade) and the other blade is away from your skin (which I'll call the OUTSIDE blade).

I ended up bending the OUTSIDE blade a bit more...and straightening the INSIDE blade a bit. The result was that it snugged the clasp significantly.

Not sure if this is "right" or whatever...but it worked for me!

Keep in mind to bend only the VERY SLIGHTEST AMOUNT...a little goes a long way.

Good luck!

Ahh so you saw past my subterfuge. hehehe like I said easy once you see it or do it but to describe is tough.

And after I got it working, I re-read your email and realized we were describing the exact same thing!

Like you said, much simpler to understand when you see it!

It's actually pretty clever the way it works.

I agree. Pretty slick way to address a design challenge!
