Help choosing my first Panerai
Hi All,
I looking for some advice and guidance regarding my first purchase from the Panerai brand. I currently have 3 Rolex's, (S/S Datejust) (S/S GMTIIC) & (S/S Daytona) and am looking at add a new watch to the collection that has a different look to it hence Panerai. The cult following that Panerai also seems to have is also attractive. My requirements are as follows, Stainless Steel, on a strap & with a date complication. With regards the date function I'm not a fan of the cyclops that Panerai use so would want a date function without the addition of the cyclops. Finally i'd like an inhouse movement but not essential. So far I've selected the 312 and 359 model from the luminor range but can't see any in the Radiomir range. Do you guys have any views on the 312 and 359 and can you shed any light as to whether there are Radiomirs that fit the bill also. Finally what are biggest wrist differences going from wearing 36mm and 40mm Rolex's up to the larger Panerai's?? Thanks for you help guys. Nick |
312 is the perfect watch to enter Panerai world.
6 advantages (1950, inhouse, sandwich, date, automatic, easy change strap) non disadvantage, only is a bit top heavy. It's huge, when you compare it with 36 and even 40mm Rolex but soon you get used to it. The final judgment will be the wrist test. Here are some comparison pics between 312 and 000 http://50.30.33.71/~trfcom/showthread.php?t=189117 Good luck choosing one  |
I know stainless is one of your criteria, but look at the 351. It's very similar in design to 312, exact it's titanium, and EXTREMELY light. Has the gold hands and tabacco face--it's a beauty.
You cannot go wrong with the 312, as PanosI said. I would suggest trying the 312 and 351 on. Here's my 351... http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/...1/IMG_1151.jpg |
312 is a great option, recently acquired a 111 and now the rolex gmtc rarely gets worn! love my pam

I like the 312- I'm not a fan of the lighter, titanium cases.
Congrats in advance on your future 312!:chuckle: |
Sounds like you are on a good start to learning. I REALLY suggest trying on as many case styles as you can. You'll find the right one.
Enjoy the ride. |
