Went to the AD today to discuss the DD that needs a shave (possibly a piece of lint!). Anyway, the watchmaker won't be in until Tuesday, so I was looking around a bit. Found this new Submariner still in plastic.
Interesting in that instead of a hologram, it had just a plain clear sticker with the model number, and an ID card. Manager told me that the clasp on this watch is a change from previous, but I don't know. I really like its classic styling, and probably feel a bit better about knocking-around in it.
Thanks for all the advice on the hairy DD (you guys are hilarious). Will take it in Tues. Take care, all.

Wow!

Congratulations!

Nice pens, too, by the way!

I still like JJ's TT blue Sub. Debated between that and the SS I picked-up...would like to still get it, but hesitate at having 2 Subs for some reason. Also looked at the Daytona meteorite and I believe the GMT anniv in all gold? THAT's a lot of gold to wear around!
Wasn't really intending to show off the pens, but needed the pen box to prop-up the watch. Watches and pens...definitely a passion for both! Thanks all.

Through the evidence presented before us we concur that we have a serious case of the "Serial Rolex collector".Three "victims" within a very short period...We have to monitor this "perpetrator" closely :chuckle: :chuckle:

I am the same,Roliies and pens  I am a Mont Blanc afficiano.

Great choice on the ss sport Rolex.Any collection needs at least one.I had the Blue TT Sub(My grail) and went for the SD,as my ss sport Rolex. Then, the white Expl II,or an alternative, with its striking white dial.Love them all !!

Thanks Chris...in fact, it was your recommendation from a previous post to consider the SS black Sub, which I had in mind when I was at the AD. If you like Montblanc, you may recognize the 4th pen from the left. It's the ball point of a matched 3-piece set of the writer's edition Marcel Proust. I generally write with fountain pens, but this ball point still gets some action from time to time. Lot's of comments on my pens...few to none on the watches. Interesting.

You made a wise choice, congratulations.

I notice a Namiki, Sailor, Delta.... nice pen collection!

Lol-x 10 July 2007 04:54 PM

Congrats it will go well with the montblanc (is that Marcel Proust?)

ForensicDoc 10 July 2007 07:33 PM

Yep Steve, that's the Proust ball point, fountain pen in my pocket now. Far left is a sterling Waterman Edson. Far right is a Krone black etched.

Lol-x 10 July 2007 07:38 PM

You know I love the Proust ballpoint. I bought one myself off e-scam about 4 years ago, sealed in the box. I've never opened it, I thought I might take it to an x-ray machine at the local courthouse, just to see that I didn't buy an empty box :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Somehow, I don't think I can complain 4 years later. Proust is one of the nicer montblanc limited editions. It is a classic, like the Sub

ohlins 10 July 2007 07:41 PM

haha after all the attention on the pens......let me say congrats on getting the new sub...!...

frostie 10 July 2007 07:43 PM

congrats on your watch great choice a true classic

Arturo 10 July 2007 11:33 PM

So they have upgraded the Sub to a new clasp? WHen did this happen? The bracelet...is it the same?

Gaijin 10 July 2007 11:43 PM

Great classic Rolex.

Why do you think it was changed??

Judging from the photo, it looks pretty much the same old thing to me.

Okay, there DOES seem to be a deeper than usual indention in the "link pattern" across the clasp just right and left of the Coronet, but I guess it is due to reflection from the camera.

...there is something about your DD that I just love....

Sounds just like a song title. Could be Elton John?

"There's something about the way your DD looks tonight...." :chuckle:

Robb 11 July 2007 12:19 AM

Looks great. Congrats!

Tools 11 July 2007 12:26 AM

Congratulations,

Beautiful watch - an all time favorite throughout the world.

But You'te got me worried......

Should I be using my Mont Blanc s and Colibri s, or should I have them in a box......?

GoldenBear 11 July 2007 12:56 AM

I don't want to say having a SS Sub and a TT Sub is a "waste" that would be wrong. My 1st Rolex was a SS Sub then I found a shop that had a Blue TT Sub that I had to have. When I wear my SS I miss my TT. It's the same watch but it's like watching TV or a movie, more enjoyable in color. Even though I have 2 Rolexes, I feel like it's only one. I need to branch out on models, I guess.

My favourite ballpoint is a Meisterstuck Le Grande with a broad refill.I place a small piece of plastic behind the refill to let the point protrude a bit further. No other ball point writes like a broad refil Mont Blanc.I also have a black/gold Boheme, with red crystal, medium refill.Very practical for theatre clothes.Ballpoints are just more practicall in my working surroundings.I just love nice pens.I have some nice Shaeffers,Cross and Parker pens, but Mont Blanc is the favourite.

Glad I could give some positive advice on the ss sport Rolex
