The New Seiko 6R Caliber.

I like both but prefer the one with the blued hands, they look great, and at under $350, value for money. And now you can manualy wind and now it hacks as well.Is a big plus over the older type shake to wind movement.

Peter, those are but two in a series of new 'affordable' automatics. They have a nice black dial version of the one on the right that I like.

Very good bang for the buck!

Like the fact you can wind and hack, with a power reserve of 50 hours.
Like you say very good bang for the buck, and a all inhouse movement watch.

You really can't get better than that. Factor in the fact that Seiko's in-house mechanical ebauche accuracy standards are more strict that COSC and you have a Rolex-killer on your wrist for less than what a Rolex leather strap and deployment will run you.

I quite like that tiny, square, gold frame around the date window. I wish more and more high-end manufacturers would come up with that one. I know that Rolex does so, but only in some of their very pricey models.....not all of them.

padi56 18 November 2005 02:56 AM

They have the frame on both watches JJ,and IMO the Seiko dial is one
of the best around. Even the vintage ones they never seem to tarnish or fade

Thanks Padi - I like the one on the left as well......

dman 18 November 2005 07:29 AM

Thanks for sharing Padi, I really like the looks of both of them, and it sounds like the movement is excellent as well.

You have a sport watch and that is a dress watch. They can't go diving in it, so you still win, MHO.
