Milgauss mystery

1 Attachment(s)
I've recently fallen in love with Milgauss.

I've been to my AD today, and GV (green glass) is 400€ more expensive than the other two. Why?
My dealer said something about GV being more limited and that green color always means higher price tag with Rolex. :crying:

Also, I've been checking for older (cheaper) models. But there are none to be found and the ones that are available are priced 10.000€+

Is this model recently resurrected or why are there no older models on the market?

The Milgauss was made sporadically from the 1950s until the 1980s. It's a long story but the first ones looked like a Submariner, then a Sub without a bezel. By the time the 1980s rolled around it looked like an overblown AirKing but in a good way. The 1980s 1019 Milgauss is one of the most coveted references of the decade. The Milgauss was never popular in any era so fewer were sold. Today they're harder to come by and the prices reflect that.

The modern GV Milgauss has a green crystal and it costs a little more because its a little more special. I had a GV for a short while but I never bonded with it. Personally, I prefer the black dial.

Do some research here on the Milgauss and you'll see it's a great watch line with a great history. Sadly buying a modern Milgauss is magnitudes cheaper than the vintage pieces.

I just got a watch from TempoKing and it was a great experience. There are many other “Trusted Sellers” that will be able to help you out and save you money.

I have a GV I got from an AD and I really like it, but from now on I would buy from a “Trusted Sellers”

Yeah me too. But I don't regret buying first 2 Rolexes from AD, they are very nice. They gave me Rolex calendar 2013 today. :)
But a 1.000+€ difference is a lot on a 6.000€ watch.

A BNIB GV with a Z serial sold in the For Sale section recently with an asking price around $6600. 2007 list price was $6250. FYI.

Used to own a black dialed one, never warmed up to the GV, the crystal looks murky from some angles, like it's dirty.

Try it on, only way to know.
