My Panerai 2013 SIHH conclusion .... FROM HERO TO ZERO !
I always was a big fan but that changed last year.
I decided to wait another year. Now I've seen enough. No more for me Last year I did not understand the 424 and 425. These 2 dials were once real Limited editions ( PAM 249 ) On top of that they made the 448 and 449 so re-editions from re-editions  This year it even got worse Must be a good feeling if you bought a 25K 399 The PAM 364 ... Again as a LE ? The new Bronze ... unbelievble The 508 .... uhhhh next year with power reserve I guess ? I ordered nothing Cancelled something I was waiting for And will sell a few I own never been that much dissapointed |
I know what you mean. Seems very iterative vs innovative.
|
Agreed. All they did was changing dials and lum colors. Actually, I fed up with this last year, so I didn't feel any disappointment yesterday because I didn't expect anything new from them. lol.. This is sad, but I think that Panerai is almost done.
Well.. never say never.. I will buy one more if they released a 44mm fiddy. This can be possible some time soon when they ran out of ideas for new models. |
Totally agree with you.
It's very sad that Pam is losing their identity. :( |
Pretty sure there's always buyers for the SEs IMHO
|
Unbelievable. That us just some half-arsed effort.
Glad I have gone off Panerai for a couple of years. |
Agree
|
I don't agree that the 508, 526 and 530 and the 1940 models are mere warm-overs or repeats.
If this is so terrible and worthy of abandoning the brand, what about a year when Rolex comes out with a new Explorer II and a whole bunch of nothing? |
From two years of really nice novelties then this:thumbsdow
|
I was expecting at least one that I'd really want. There's plenty of existing models I still lust after though, so no big deal for me.
|
Its perhaps Richy's way of telling ristis not to focus on 'black' market LE/SE or whatsoever, and simply just preorder or buy direct from them instead.
Its probably a way to protect the ristis's pocket as well? But other than the 508, nothing else got a 2nd glance from me, design-wise I have seen better. :P |
Silver lining -- I don't have to commit any funds to the 2013 novelties!
|
I've been on that thin line already with the brand... Already as it is , my 7 panerai's have sat for months... I wore my 372 like once in the past few months, and my new 448 around the house! I was so turned off with the strap it made me sick lol
Really done with the brand, shame to say as I had so much passion for Panerai ! Oh well, I guess it becomes inevitable anyway once getting into the league of the top manufacturers ! |
Would not be so bad if they actually delivered some pieces before the next SIHH show
Personally, I find the endless flood of SE/LEs off-putting, especially when one considers the nonsense involved in their procurement It is amusing to read the spin around what was originally stated (or maybe not!) regarding bronze watches... In any case, I prefer the regular 44 mm production models... 111 and 320 pretty much cover it for me |
Wow, I'm not a fan of Pam's but do see from time to time some really gorgeous looking pieces from them, but from what I've read it sounds like Panerai has really let down a lot of the dedicated collectors and fans, sorry to hear...

There's a reason I'm down to just my 233 now.
|
Some of the new introductions (like the ceramic subs) look great, but when I see "47mm" in the specs...time to click "NEXT"
|
Agree on the bs involved in acquiring watches.
That's the reason i am still down with 1 pam 000. Guess that'll do for a long long time. It's also good that negativity is accepted here and not cencored everytime someone posted some not so good feelings about pams. Made this a much more enjoyable forum. Sihh 2013 is a disappointment for me except the 512 which is a nice piece. |
Guys ...
I shocked with ALMOST replies!!!. I was in the SIHH yesterday and I saw all the new Pam's. I must say there is more beauties this year. Almost of their new watches are beautiful on reality. The one I don't like is the new Bronzo!!. The PR indicator is so ugly!!. There also two refs. Which is not in the press yet (very vintage). One in Pt and other is RG. The Pt version is verrrrrry expensive approx 59k €!!!!!!!!!. Would you believe that??. Stay tuned for more Info live from Geneva. Khalid |
I think my first opinion was exagerated.
I still hate it they made another bronze. They should have kept their word. But now seeing the P5000 movement... This is good. They just need something cheaper to put in all the eta based luminor and radiomir because only a 8 days will make it too expensive. But it is a good start. The 2 vintage radiomirs in pt and rg are nice too. I guess we`ll have too wait for a steel version ;-) |
i'm starting to come around on the PR indicator on the PRonzo (visually speaking, of course....i still don't get why an auto movement needs a PR). i like the balance of the 3 lines on top + PR as compared to the 4-liner of the 382...now, if only the "power reserve" text could be deleted.

in my opinion the 2013 panerai new models along with the unviel was a resounding success ... it brought a mixure of feelings some good some bad a lot of frustration even more delight ..
My point is it got people talking about panerai ... and that is good marketing ! As for upset and frustration im starting to see a shift .. I love all the new releases including the "pronzo" but not planning to buy anything this year "" if I can" |

Agreed - the P/R meter works well on this dial, gives it some balance My money is on a GMT version next year, perhaps with a P/R indicator on the movement (if a display caseback is used) |
Still fell my PAM112 is the ultimate PAM even though it is nowaday considered a budget PAM....they release WAY to many models these days and too big with 47mm and to small with 42mm, it lessens the brand.....
To me the essence/iconic Panerai is a 44mm base Luminor with sandwich dial = PAM112 My next watch was suppose to be a RAD but might get another Rolex instead... |
Can I just get a non SE 47mm wire lug radiomir so I can just be done with you pam?
