Seiko Spirit is here
Hey guys the new Seiko Spirit is on my wrist and let me say its one NICE Seiko, the best Seiko I've ever owned. Get one and you'll see what I mean. The minute you pick this watch up you notice the weight and finish not to mention the build quality. Yep this is the Seiko that has it all. Solid SS, Sapphire Crystal, Clear Observation Screwdown Caseback, Large Signed Crown, Quickset Date Function, 100M Water Resistant, The new Seiko 23 Jewel Diashock Automatic Movement that Hacks and can be Hand Wound. and a very very nice Solid SS Signed Bracelet with a heavy Double Pushbutton Deployment Clasp that has a built in fine adjustment. This watch is way COOL.:smokin:
Heres a few pics. http://img277.imageshack.us/img277/4...11220065mb.jpg http://img277.imageshack.us/img277/6...11220206kz.jpg http://img277.imageshack.us/img277/7...11220077ho.jpg http://img277.imageshack.us/img277/3...11220094wz.jpg http://img277.imageshack.us/img277/6...11220273yw.jpg |
Jim, all I see are boxes with red Xs in them instead of pix.

I don't know if I'd call it that, but compared to what the GS sells for I think your better off with one of these models. Of course the GS has a diffrent movement thats tested beyond COSC specs but for that kinda dough I'd probably go with a Rolex or another Omega.

Very nice watch indeed. I know this may sound a bit rude but I would like to know what you paid for it. I'm also glad that has it just the date window and not the day-date. |

That would be the smartest move Seiko could make is to finally bring their autos back to the US market, these new ones will go over like crazy with the WIS people, however the general pop may be frustrated with the non spot on accuracy that their uesd to with their Kinetic Seikos, but who knows, I know I'd love to see these in the local jeweler's window. |
Here a link to where I bought it from and this guy is great to deal with.

Jim that is one sweet watch! It has many things I am looking for in my next watch, so it's definitely on the list!
Please let us know how it holds up over the next while. |
Nice watch Jim. One question though, what exactly is a Grand Seiko and what makes it different from well a Seiko?

Excellant question well first of all like my Seiko Spirit the Grand Seikos are Japan only models and definatly some of the most sought after Seikos in the world. The GS line consists of the very best Seiko has to offer and are not cheap at all and very hard to come by here in the states, in other words they have the best automatic movements produced by Seiko and are adjusted to more specifications then even the COSC standards. Heres a link with some pics of the most popular sought after GS model. http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/GrandSeikoTable.htm I believe this GS sales for 350,000 YEN which is about $2,900 US dollars. Heres another link which may be helpful. http://www32.ocn.ne.jp/~kseiya/gs/ |
Very cool Jim!!

Thanks dman.

Quite a good price Jim wear it in good health.Regarding the Grand Seiko IMO
the 9S54A movement, is one of the finest and most acurate movements ever produced in a wrist watch.I have been trying to find one for years, but now if they do come up for sale they are very expencive. http://ninanet.net/watches/others03/...s/mgseiko.html |
Wow, Peter, great link!
I love the one with the blued hands! I think the GS are probably the most steal expensive watch you can buy. Because GSs arent available in North America the great unwashed dont know about the GS and the heritage. They see Seiko on the dial and think its an affordable watch, nothing special. Remember that GS GMT I posted a pic of a few weeks back. Man GS are beautiful! I would love to own one. |
Thanks JJ and Padi this watch really is amazing and I'm so glad I bought it.
Long term I do plan on buying the GS, I've been looking at them for years. Heres a comparsion link. http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/REVIEWS/...koCompared.htm |

After the first week the Spirit is running +4/day. It breaks down like this, on the wrist during the day it loses -4 while in the box at night dial up it gains +8so over one week it gained +28sec according to my atomic clock, which is great accuracy.
