Panererai with white face a good or bad resale choice

I know there's a lot more black faced PAMs.....but does this increase the value of a white face or do they just not appeal to the masses??

CarFreak 4 March 2013 01:42 PM

If looking at resale, get a black dial. I don't think white appeals to the masses which directly impacts its resale value.

You'll have a hard time trying to sell a white faced PAM.

A bad resale choice? Mos def. That said

Speeding911 4 March 2013 02:34 PM

I'm still looking for a cream 251.

If you buy it right (not from an AD), it won't be bad, no.

The best buy, though, is what you like. If it's the white dial, go for it. Very clean and crisp and some cool strap combos.

Buy used and it will have already taken the big hit. Just know when you sell it'll take a little longer but it will sell if you bought right.

There's one for sale right here on TRF right now!

I had a 251 for many years.

The good news is that you can wear ANY strap with it. It looks great on new/old/calf/alligator/hornback/ammo pouch ANYTHING.

I had a fun time collecting straps. You can go crazy with blue/red/white/green/ lime green any color you want.

The bad news is that they are tough to resell. I traded mine and it was not easy to do.

I suggest you only buy it if you think you will wear it for a long time. If its a fun distraction you think you will flip quickly then don't do it.

Agree on resale and the looks with straps. Many choices that look great, especially on the cream/ivory dial. Any buyer should look at it as a keeper rather than a flip.

The only white dial PAM I like is the Daylight model. As a general rule, I prefer the black dials.

Maybe bad resale value when compared to new MSRP but preowned, if priced correctly they sell easily enough. 95% of Pam's when compared to new cost have bad resale value.

I was interested in getting my 188 off and on for years and every time I emailed they were usually sold. Maybe it's more model specific but from my observations, its not a problem to get rid of a white dialed Pam.

As to owning one, they are fabulous and very versatile. Wouldn't hesitate to get one!
