Panerai - Health Warning Required : May Seriously Dent Your Wallet

So bought a 112 to compliment my rolex lvc a fortnight ago, as I've been hankering after a Panerai watch for a little while.

Did the inevitable and visited my local Panerai stockist to order an additional strap (assolutamente).

Helpfully and suspect cunningly, the very helpful sales assistant let me try on a 422 to see what the strap looks like in the flesh.

After a week of deciding and having my wife pinch my 112 as she loves it, I bought the 422 today.

I know they said buying a Panerai could be addictive for the straps but this is altogether a different proposition.

Both watches are great by the way and can't see the rolex getting much wrist time now - just looks too small now.

A true Panerai convert:thumbsup:

I don't blame you. I couldn't resist the siren call if the 422 either. Welcome to the club!

Fight On!,
Jason

If only those 47s looked correct on my 6.75 wrist. I would be rocking. 373 or 422 right now...

Congrats!

In this instance I would offer that you were left with no other choice, and to not purchase the 422 would have been doing both yourself, and your wife, a very grave disservice.

I applaud you for doing the right thing.

Congrats on the new PAM and enjoy yoself!

Now THAT, sir, is AWESOME :smokin:

Yes, an addictive habit this Panerai business, not to mention an expensive habit... :agree: But look at the bright side, you know what to get her for Xmas (a new strap for her 112, ha!)

congratulations (to the both of you)

Jeff,
If I think my 6.5" wrist can manage a 47mm, then you can. It's all in the mind!

congrats

These days I think anyone can wear any size watch, no matter wrist size. Especially Panerai... The purpose of Panerai from the start was big legibility. It was never designed for civilian wear anyway... a completely specific utilitarian military purpose. We wear them for our own love of the designs and the history. Even with my 7.25" wrist, I'd rock an Egiziano proudly if I could afford it. Wear whatever, it's all fair game.

In all candor the 372 I tried on didn't look nearly as ridiculous as I thought it would. Perhaps it's just a defense mechanism at work. :banghead:

I am sure you and Mike could pull it off ... I have a 6'5 wrist and I think it looks just fine. The 372 and 422 wears smaller ... Part due to the flat case, part of the thinner and lower lugs.

Having said that ... After wearing my 210 for a couple of days, which is only 2mm smaller .... The 372 felt huge for a couple of minutes ... Especially with a suite and tie for work ... But after a very short while it was fine again.
