OEM kevlar dive strap
Just got a 305 and I tried on the second strap that comes with it (the kevlar strap with the friction buckle). The strap seems really long (which I guess makes sense if you are wearing it over a wet suit). At first I thought it was going to be a cool alternative strap...but I can't imagine I'll use this strap for day-to-day usage. Does anyone use this aside from when diving?

Never even mounted mine. The length is to accomodate a wet suit. I just keep it fresh with the box / manuals etc.
Start shopping for aftermarket straps. There's no end to the possibilities! |

Btw, how do you fit your strap in the box? It seems like it's too long to fit in w/o bending it... |

I keep the short side of the Kevlar inside the box under the keeper on the right side. The long side I just sit on top of the inner wooden box before closing it up with the black outer cardboard box. |
I had a regular black dive strap and it's definitely sized LONG. I sold it.

Definitely had the same problem, but I wanted to use the "friction" buckle as you call it. Found a generic strap on amazon that isn't ideal but makes do.

Follow up question: is the buckle fitted to the dive strap intended to be removed from the strap? I don't think the included screw driver fits the screw attaching it to the strap.

It was so long ago I don't remember what I used, OEM driver or a million other precision ones I own. It did however leave some screw wear unfortunately. http://i.imgur.com/7GdU0dd.jpg |
