448 or 372? what would u keep.

hi All:

if you were me, what would you keep between 372 and 448?
why? would you keep 448 because it's limited edition?

thank you

joe100 16 September 2013 12:52 AM

372

B. Doggy 16 September 2013 12:59 AM

372. Not a fan of the cali dial personally.

Travelller 16 September 2013 01:22 AM

448 s.e.

448. Just like the 372's, it's a great-looking dial. Sapphire vs. plexi is a matter of taste, ditto for the crown guard. However, the 372 will devalue just as sure as the sun will rise; the 448 is more likely to hold it's value - if not increase. Should you decide sometime down the road that you only want one Panerai in your collection and you prefer the 372, flipping the 448 won't be a problem. You will probably have a good deal of cash left in your pocket...

they are both plexi: CRYSTAL Plexiglas®, 2.8 mm thick (http://www.panerai.com/en/special-ed...-days-pam00448)

I love the 448 --but if I had to chose between the two, I would keep the 372. As for which will end up being "more valuable," I doubt either watch represents an investment grade decision so I'd just keep the one I like more.

372

Hairdude1 16 September 2013 02:48 AM

372 should stay

nick c 16 September 2013 03:39 AM

372 as the above

448

You can always get 372 again in case you miss it ... 448 will be harder to find ... And you might have more occasions to wear the 448 .... I catch myself that for work I prefer a Dressier Radomir over my 372

texastexter 16 September 2013 05:43 AM

372- but beware the price will continue to fall. 448 is ok but it too will fall in price. Panerai has made too many Cali dials.

simbal 16 September 2013 06:14 AM

Keep 448 of course. You can get 372 any time!

My bad, thanks for catching that . The 449 also uses plexi. It's the 424/425 that uses Sapphire.

Just to be clear, the 372 on the secondary market went from retail+ (due to lack of availability in early 2012) to retail- due to ample availability. Supply and demand hard at work. However, OP has already raised the list price of the 372 by €400 / $500 and will probably do it again next year... . Eventually secondary-market prices will raise as OP prices raise and so I think the 372 will sell close to original purchase price as OP continues to drive the price up.

Aside from value..:
Depends on your collection.
I see the 372 as the ultimate model with arabic numerals / Dial. Great watch.
But if youhave many arabic dials, which you are planning to keep, i would keep the cali.
Love em both, beautifull watches!
Good luck.

hi guys: thanks for all your input, i was hoping to get 249 before, but didn't have the chance and i like Cali dial alot and it's also limited edition. i think you're right 372 will probably be more easy to find vs. 448.
one thing is all my luminors are 44mm. and my Rads are 47mm.
cheers

kilyung 16 September 2013 07:27 AM

I'd keep 372. Nothing against Cali dials or Rads but the "Vintage" and "California" engravings on the case are dumb IMO.

jake 16 September 2013 12:59 PM

Keep The Dynamic Duo Together

You could not have a better Dynamic Duo than a 372 and a 448.

Keep them both, and enjoy them for a long, long time!!!!!

CWIN 16 September 2013 01:49 PM

I have a soft spot for the 448. You can always repurchase a 372

TAKUYA 16 September 2013 02:21 PM

If you like both of them, keep 448 now........... And you can always get 372 back anytime......

Flip the 448 for a 249.

What would I do?

The question here is what would I do? I would probably sell the 372 and keep the 448 and then totally regret my decision and I would go into a typical WIS tailspin, turning over everything I have while losing thousands of dollars and in a month wind up with another 372 and another 448, being exhausted and swearing that these were the two watches I will keep for the rest of my life.

Now, what do I think you should do? Keep them both, be happy that you have two great watches that represent a brand in an honest and proper manner and figure out which submersible you will add to round out your Panerai collection!

psv 17 September 2013 12:52 AM

Limited edition is a stupid reason to buy/own a watch, keep the one that you like the most.

In my case, it would be the 372.

So as an owner of a 372 and a 305 I now need to get a Radiomir!?

Alex,
If you decide to sell that 448, let me know? :-)

HDHNTER 18 September 2013 09:31 PM

I would keep the 372 & flip the 448 - neither is an investment piece so go with what you like the most.

I'll have to disagree with you there. The 448 may be more of an "investment piece" because it's still an affordable SE. Let's take the 127 for example; a definite collector's piece but at today's prices there's no guarantee it will make for a good investment... . The 448 on the other hand should at the very least hold its value (imo).

I agree with your disagreement, the 448 should hold value better given the limited production.

iLLGT2 19 September 2013 04:26 AM

I have both, never wear 448, love my 372… 372

PanosI 19 September 2013 04:47 AM

372 and flip the 448 for the 449

lapince 25 September 2013 01:39 PM

372 by far if you where to have only one Pam, but since I see that you have a few rads and lums it would be nice to see the rest of your collection, maybe depending on the ones you have it's more interesting to have the 448...

bry 25 September 2013 06:32 PM

Keep the 372. I'd prefer a 249 over a 448 though.
