PAM 111 / 510 or 392 ? ? ?

Hello fellow Pam comrades,
I've been lurking on this forum for quite some time now trying to decide which Pam should be my first ....
I own a Rolex bi metal gmtii c and am now looking to purchase my first Pam ...
I like the 111 510 and 392 ...
Any advice / recommendation on which would be a good buy? I plan to purchase from one of the TRF trusted sellers....
The Larger 1950's case (312) and 47mm's are too big on my puney 6.5' wrist

Many thanks all ...

of those, i would lean towards the 111.

the 392, while narrower by 2 mm, is just as thick as the 312, so you probably will have the same size issue.

as for the 510, the new 8-day movement seems very impressive on paper, but, it's not time-tested and i'm not convinced by the "8 DAYS" text on the dial (though i do like the balance of the four lines).

the 111 is a classic first PAM. buy it used from a good seller and you will not lose any money if you decide panerai isn't for you. the top grade ETA movement is durable, reliable and cheap to service if you don't mind having it not serviced by OP.

and, if you decide panerai is for you, you'll have an awesome watch from which to build your collection.

good luck with the hunt!

I agree with Cru, the 111 is classic and can be had at good price. The 510 replaces the 111, but as a new piece will be at a premium; prices will come down on it as more come onto the market.

Wait for the price drop of the 510 if ur not in a hurry or get the 111 now!

111 was my first

111 for me

111. 6497's are tanks, Panerai in-house aren't.

Most will disagree with my reasoning, but it is my reasoning....

When I think of Panerai, I think of tanks, not delicate machines.

I have the same size wrist as you i have a 111 also, love it to death. Good luck with your choice

My one and only PAM is a 111 and I still really like it. I thought the Panerai thing might be a fad but it has endured.

Unless a Bronzo or Pronzo falls into my lap at MSRP it'll probably remain my only PAM.

510 all day every day. In house over ETA everytime. Ultimately is what you like the most.

I agree with your reasoning!

OP, go for the 111....or 112 if you want a slightly cleaner look.

Totally agree with the sentiment here - 111 is a great reference to start with.

111

gmlomas 10 December 2013 05:34 PM

I like the 1950s like 312 and so forth, plus I like having the date and the in-house.

I also have a small wrist and I feel I can pull it off. But I am sure you have tried it already.

Goodluck!!!
