Single favorite Panerai feature and a photo

Curious, what is the 1st feature of your Panerai that you feel is necessary when navigating through the myriad of offerings, ie the beginning of your filtering process?

For me, when i think of tool watch, i see a solid case back.

Mystro 23 December 2013 02:44 AM

I agree with you. Its a toss up between dial font but my favorite Panerai feature that is a signature of Panerai has to be the crown cam lock. I have to have that feature on a Pam.

lovely photo! the watch looks so shining.

anyway, for me... is a display caseback.

Since none of my watches in my current collection do not have an open case back, the next watch (PAM 510) has to have it.

At a minimum, I like the "12" and "6".

Sandwich dial

Babolat 23 December 2013 05:43 AM

Sandwich dial for me .

Size. Was a little hesitant about 47mm but now love the contrast to my sub!

I'm a fan of cushion cases and really Panerai has nailed it!

I love how thin this watch is as well.

I love the 12/3/6/9

Uhhhh gold hands...

Rugged movement...

A subtle brown that really is closer to a vintage vibe. Hard to describe, but perfection.

Solid back for thinness and toughness...

Any guesses? ;-)

It's really a combination of things for me. The unmistakable signature crown cam lock, the large 47mm case, the submersible and chronograph functions. This PAM00187 is my daily wear "tool watch" that I constantly utilize on the job for measuring time & distance... and it goes (and has been) everywhere, most notably in the many countries of Africa.

i wanted the crown guard and I thought it was the coolest thing!

great thread!

for me, it's the overall aesthetic and toughness and simplicity, so, no "feature" wins.

i will say, i love straps and i use and appreciate the quick strap change system almost daily. no, not "panerai DNA", but, much appreciated nonetheless.

herbalt 24 December 2013 02:06 AM

I'd say it's a combination of the numerals, simplicity and size... but the crown guard on a Luminor is what I first noticed about the brand and thought it looked so cool.

The crown guard and simplicity of the dial is what attracted me to the brand.

Same here, after years of wearing strictly bracelet watches this capabilty was an amazing change.

Such a simple concept, but so versatile! While I am a huge fan of all aspects of the Panerai aesthetic, the strap options are my favorite part of the game.
