Pick one... and plz tell me why

Hi2all,

I have two really great PAMs :joy: but there's always room for another... :chuckle: Actually, I've been dreaming of a 111G with sausage dial and exhibition caseback. This got me interested in all "simple" Base and Marinas (no date, no PR indicator, no mins indicies, etc and dark dial) that are out of production.

Here are the contenders; please pick one* price-no-object and one that's "attainable" (for the passionate WIS):
*Common, now, Let's not all pick the 9A, 036, 172, 195, 360... :bluetongu

PAM001 - Luminor Marina, unmatched, Pre-A,A,B,C,D
PAM002 - Luminor base, unmatched, Pre-A,A,B,C,D
PAM004 - Luminor Marina, PVD, Pre-A,A,B,C,D
PAM009 - Luminor base, PVD, unmatched, Pre-A,A,B
PAM022 - Luminor Marina, Destro, unmatched, A,B,C,D
PAM026 - Luminor Marina, Destro, PVD unmatched, A,B, K(SE - Sandwich...)
PAM036 - Luminor Marina Militare, PVD unmatched, brown dial, Ti case, B(SE)
PAM040 - Luminor Marina, unmatched, Ti case, B
PAM055 - Luminor base, brown dial, Ti case, C,D
PAM056 - Luminor Marina, Destro, brown dial, Ti case, C,D
PAM061 - Luminor Marina, brown dial, Ti case, C,D
PAM082 - Luminor Marina Militare, blue dial, Ti case, C
*PAM111 - Luminor Marina, G< (Gs w/Sausage dial)
*PAM112 - Luminor base, G< (Gs w/Sausage dial)

PAM115 - Luminor Marina, Destro, E,F,G
PAM116 - Luminor base, brown dial, Ti case, E,F
PAM117 - Luminor Marina, Destro, brown dial, Ti case, E
PAM118 - Luminor Marina, brown dial, Ti case, E,F
PAM172 - Luminor Marina, blue hands, Tantalium case, F(SE)
*PAM176 - Luminor base, Ti case, G< (Gs w/Sausage dial?)
*PAM177 - Luminor Marina, Ti case, G< (Gs w/Sausage dial?)
PAM195 - Luminor Marina Logo, PVD, F(SE)
PAM219 - Luminor base, Destro, H (Sandwich)
PAM360 - Luminor base Logo, PVD, Ecru, M (Paneristi 10th)

*Gs only

I like the all polished case with the base dial (112?) thats the one to get. 390 is pretty sweet if you ask me...,,,

kilyung 19 February 2014 01:07 PM

111G for me. Great classic look.

TAKUYA 19 February 2014 01:20 PM

390 for me or 111 G with decorated movement.

Of course the 36, I guess it's no surprise coming from me, and in second the 82, both are very limited editions and have the Marina MilitareAttachment 467791 and in third the 26, or the 28 which is not on the list, glad I kept mine I wear it almost as often as my 233, great watch, but you wrote that the 36 is PVD, it's not, it's TI, nothing PVD there...

htc8p 19 February 2014 10:05 PM

i have a 112 G series. its a classic and i will probably never outgrow it. the see through case back is really unique. i think panerai made these limited series with with more attention to detail.

this was also the time when pam were at the peak of their popularity.

that being said i think you can still find those early series. there are probably 4500 pieces per model out there.

Travelller 20 February 2014 06:43 AM

G-men, I  you!

390 - I left out all Boutique editions (and there are enough), but the 390 seems to be a more unique variant with it's brown dial... and lack of pig

"The night is young", but still, I was hoping to see a vote (or three) for some "fat numbers" by now... :agree:

Yes, of course the 036 - and I cross my fingers for you

Sorry - I added both PVD and Ti to the description - obviously no such creature...
...aka typo - aka "can you find it in your heart to forgive me ???" :chuckle:
Sorry, 28 doesn't fit the parameters and what business have our 233s in this "conversation" :bluetongu

Cru Jones 20 February 2014 06:47 AM

111G...sausage Luminor is tasty for sure.

But, Ti + chocolate makes the 118 tough to beat. I would take it over the 111G, especially in light of the 217 and 233.

Or, 009 for PVD and even greater difference with the two you have (but, for me, 118 does more).

Psmith 20 February 2014 06:53 AM

111 voter here

All you need in a manual PAM, although I prefer the sandwich dial version

mfer 20 February 2014 01:42 PM

If you have the coin....pre-a, once you see the dug out and filled dial, you'll know why.

If not....55 or 111G. Just really great combos for visual pleasure!

111 is a perfect PAM reference IMO.

^^A fantastic shot of your 111

This is what I'm lusting after... just look at those numbers...

I've referred to this diagram by Volker before; it gives us a great understanding of the different versions of the non-sandwich dial types:

PatekCollector 23 February 2014 11:20 AM

I like the very clean sandwich dial matching well with the Ti case on Pam176.

red1108nyc 23 February 2014 12:50 PM

I personally went down the 111G route with the more historically correct sized crown guard, decorated movement and painted dial. 176G would be a close second!

Here is my 111G saying hi!

^^Awesome G, Fred, awesome shot!!!

lapince 27 February 2014 02:57 AM

Of course if you're talking about 202/A, not much to add, except a big load of cash

 of course I can forgive you for the ti and pvd, well the 233 was already in the photo, I know you have one but am too lazy to take another photo :agree:
So then 36, 82 or of course if you can the 202/A, tough choice good luck

RollyFan98012 27 February 2014 05:21 AM

PAM111 for me as I need to add some diversity to my other two PAMS

subtona 27 February 2014 05:23 AM

Pam 360 or the original Panerai 5218-201a Pre Vendom Logo

the balance on the dial is a work of art.

Travelller 23 March 2014 07:45 PM

BTTT - I'd love to see a few more opinions (please don't forget the "why")

Many have suggested the ...

PAM390 - Luminor base, brown dial, gold hands, Ecru, pig on case-back (BE)

... is missing from the list.

318 Brooklyn Bride

it's a disaster for Panerai but this makes it unique and it will NEVER been done again

Some might find it crazy but for me the 318, no doubt ….. at least it is something rare

Schweet!

Say, why do Paneristi refer to the 360 as BBQ

Bob Quapaw aka BBQ. I didn't know him but he supposedly help pick out what the 360 would look like and he passed away before it was released.
