Ladies Datejust stops every 2-3 days
Hi, firstly I hope this is in the right place! Wondered if anyone has any ideas...
I had my watch serviced a few months ago after it kept randomly stopping. It seemed fine for the first month after working perfectly. Then it began randomly stopping again (even after full winds). I took it back to the watch shop (who have a very good reputation) and they inspected it again and kept it in but couldn't find anything wrong. It now stops every 2-3 days, sometimes during the night but also during the day. I wear it 24/7. |
Hmmmm. If you are wearing it 24/7 and being fairly active it should run almost indefinitely. I'm no expert but those who are should weigh in shortly.

It's not how long you wear it, it is how active you are. It is common for a self-winding watch to stop on you if you are not active, even while you are wearing it.
If the shop is reputable and has inspected it and found nothing wrong, perhaps your activities have changed. Wind it fully - about 40 turns - every 3rd day and see if that helps. If the problem persists perhaps you need a second watchmaker opinion.. |
Thanks, I'm pretty active so can't imagine it'd be not moving enough. I'll try winding it every few days and hope that keeps it going :)

You shouldn't have to wind it every day.
When it stops again, check at what time it does that, each time (write it down) and see if it's consistent or random. Once you have more info, you can go back to the watchmaker and explain the problem more precisely. Hopefully they can solve it for you. |
