Moderators and cyclops mag threads

Isn't it amusing that despit numerous threads regarding "defective" cyclops" mods seem to think that this is an acceptable level of imperfection on a very expensive time piece. Many members seem to disagree and want to discuss the issue and debate the fact without personal attack yet mods see fit to lock the thread as it's not something they want to read! This has happened to the last 3 threads regarding this issue, and I personally believe it's wrong, if it affects members of the forum and they want to discuss it, if there's no personal attacks involved then why shouldn't they? If it's simply because the admin and mods of the page, that continually seem to stick up for the brand as they fail to see the issue and dont agree that it's an issue that affects many people, then the the threads should not be locked and people stopped from discussing what they feel is a real issue! The person locking the threads has made many comments and when challenged simply states that it's rolex perogative to change spec! This isn't the case and mods shouldn't decide what is discussed and what isn't, their there too delete and stop insulting comments not to dictate what's discussed on the page! Bring back 2.5x mag as all the rest is a QC issue and deep down everyone knows it'

That's not what's happening at all. Most of those thread are getting derailed by people presuming to know what Rolex intends. The only thing that some of the mods are saying is that they don't find the lack of magnification a big deal. I happen to disagree but as long as that discourse remains civil I don't think any threads would be closed.

The board has been flooded with these threads, so we don't need more.

And remember, mods are members, too, and they do have opinions.

Muzz 20 May 2015 11:33 AM

2.5 has been removed from the description, buy the watch that has the correct mag you desire and move on. Seems pretty straight forward to me. And yes this particular topic does get derailed and off topic too quickly.

Instead of new threads same topic try to focus on what you actually love about the brand and history and move on.

The mag issue has run its course and is getting nauseating to say the least. If you dont like it get it fixed. Write Rolex a letter, tell them how unhappy you are..............

Here

busytimmy 20 May 2015 11:50 AM

We need to get back to to the is it safe threads of the past :D

Rookie52 20 May 2015 11:54 AM

I highly doubt moderators are locking threads simply because people are talking about magnification inconsistencies...That would be ridiculous.

Danex 20 May 2015 12:00 PM

The problem IMHO can be attributed to a phenomenon called cognitive dissonance. Some here are striving to avoid it leading to denial. Others are suffering with the acceptance of reality. These discussions are unavoidably contentious and throw our little community into disharmony.
I'm ready to put it into the past as I've come to accept that Rolex does not live up to the image I once believed.
Let's get back to those fun and feel good "incoming" and "which dial is most awesome" threads. I still love Rolex, this forum, the mods, and everyone here. Can't we all get along?

style88 20 May 2015 12:07 PM

I think we should all just move on. Those who can accept the cyclops lower mag, good for you. Those who can't, just get it fixed.

watchwatcher 20 May 2015 12:19 PM

Well I'm going on record saying that the moderators here are the best in the business, and if they deem a thread closed, there is a darn good reason.

For some reason this issue tends to bring out the worst in our members, and the mods aren't going to have it...and I don't blame them.

jjnd08 20 May 2015 12:21 PM

I don't see this ending well for you...

The year of the Cyclops

I won't dignify this rant with an answer..

It's been moved to an appropriate board though, it isn't anything to do with Rolex Watches..

Good God.

sleddog 20 May 2015 12:39 PM

I'll keep this as short and as simple as possible.

Threads are closed for many reasons, but never on the agenda of brand protection. If Rolex (or any other brand) has an issue, and this issue is discussed with an open minded genuine debate, without ridicule or degrading mentality, then the discussion is not only allowed to continue, it's actually encouraged. That is what this forum prides itself on!!
If you look a little deeper, there are still numerous threads on this now boring topic.

Lucky for you, this moderator is in a happy enough mood to allow you to continue................ For now!!

Andad 20 May 2015 01:23 PM

And there we have it.

locutus49 20 May 2015 01:28 PM

Can I get my cyclops wet?

seand442 20 May 2015 01:47 PM

What is this cyclops issue you speak of? :chuckle:

crowncollection 20 May 2015 01:52 PM

it simple check the watch before you buy it, if unhappy don't buy it, end of story, we are all allowed out opinion that is what makes this a great forum mods included, i am personally over this discussion myself

Classic example. This thread has run it's course! Says who? People are still discussing and its closed down by Padi who on all other cyclops threads has defended the brand and varying cyclops..... Shouldn't people be allowed to discuss what effects them?

Andad 20 May 2015 03:59 PM

:bye::bye:

Padi identified the direction that the thread in question was going in.

As I have identified the direction that you are going in.

You were given the option to let it go.
You may still have time to edit......

Brother.

How many ways can you beat a dead horse?? Just how many people world wide even car?? Not the hand full that frequent a watch board.

Why is it a defect??? Maybe Rolex just changed it. Didn't they ask you first???

Now, don't blame padi for locking this thread. I DID.

Are you some kind of self-appointed arbiter of what is discussed and when it should continue and when it should stop.....I don't think so.

Also as pointed out by Mike in his post above Padi had nothing to do with the closure of the thread and you have thereby made a false allegation against a moderator without a proper basis.

You just don't get it. :bye:
