new to pan - need help
Just bought a platona..now i want a BIGGER watch with a date to wear on weekends. Im not very familiar with the pan models..I think these work but im looking for input/recommendations
321, 88, 90 and 233 missing anything? Id like to stay under $10k..preferably around $6...id buy new or slightly used... help? |
233 is awesome, but won't be available for 6K...probably closer to 8/9ish if bought used.
since you have a platona, no reason to save a grand or two at this point, so, i would just go for the 233. but, moving on, if you want big & date, the bulkiest will be the submersible line. check the 305 and 24. the 514 also is a good, solid all-arounder. otherwise, 321/312/320/351/359 will be big at 44, but also quite thick - depending on your wrist, it could be perfect or less so. 88/90/104/164 are automatic bettarini case models, so, they will wear thinner than the 1950 case automatics above. also, the new for 2016 models 627, 628, 657 and 658 could be worth checking out. all of them are 45mm 1940 Radiomirs, so, comparatively thin, but you will need to like the ecru lume. all at the upper range of the budget, too. or just go on panerai's website, which has a pretty good search function: http://www.panerai.com/en/search.html  |
233 for the win

think im torn between 233 and 321

233 probably the more desirable and special of the two.
Manual, of course, but with a long power reserve (close to 10 days on a full wind). Alternatively, stick with a simpler model e.g. 111 or 005. These are a safe way into Panerai ownership as they resell well. No strap quick-change device though, which the 233 and 321 both have. |
if you like the 233, might as well go 10 days and get the 270. just saying.

Is there no AD or botique around? You really need to try them on.

how is the 90 different from the 321 and 233 ?
Thanks! |
high recommend 233 with date and GMT function

I'd also recommend the 233. Got rid of my 111 to upgrade to the 233.

If you're after a Pan, I'd suggest the Peter...:twit:

I owned the 275, which is basically the 233 w/o date. I really enjoyed the manual movement, also the domed sapphire is beautiful. Now I only have a Ceramica, the 438 but my next acquisition I think will be a Rad with the new micro rotor p.4000 movement.
