Winding my new PAM

Ok so new PAM owner here (some may have seen my 590 incoming thread). Never owned manually wound watch, I know it has p5000 movement with 8 day power reserve.
Having said that, when I am winding the watch, how many revolutions I need to wind it before it is fully wound? In other words, I want to avoid over/under winding if that makes sense.

TIA for your comments

Not an expert here, but I don't think you can over wind. My p.5000 will eventually stop where you can't wind anymore. The crown guard sorta gets in the way of getting a full revolution - it's like you can only get half a turn per wind, so for me it takes well over a hundred turns. I used to pay attention - I think the sound changes slightly when you get near the end so you could let up if you don't want to hit the stop.

Damn things are quiet in Panerai section of the forum  used to be more lively.

Thanks for the reply Kechy. I know what you mean by not being able to give the crown a full turn. Well over hundreds revolutions makes me feel better because I was nowhere close and did not hear any change in audible sound, so I think I'm good :chuckle:

Just a paranoid new owner

Winding my new PAM

There is an audible click when you get to full wind, so there is a little bit of a sign that your fully wound but it usually quite a few winds to get a full wind!
Congrats on the 590 BTW, is a beautiful piece!

Excellent, thanks for weighing in. Now I know when to stop. It is a beautiful watch so different from my sub.

Here is my experience with two p5000 calibers. You are winding I think two barrels. I notice that if you wind slowly you will start to feel some kickback. It will start to get stronger and stronger. It lets up a little and you are on to the second barrel which will provide kickback that will get stronger until finally you come to the end, and you won't be able to turn anymore without a lot of force. I measured about 110 turns for first barrel and another hundred turns to the end for a total 210 turns. When I mention turn it really is more like a 1/2 revolution because it is difficult to turn all he way around with the crown protector kind of in the way.

don't quite remember but when I had a 233 it took an eternity to reach the full PR
