New 5167A owner and new to the forum

I've been reading this forum for a while now and I'm finally excited to post now as a new 5167A owner. I just picked this up on order from my local AD. It came in fresh from Patek.

As an introduction, I bought my first watch this year an IWC 3714 Portuguese. I thought that would be my first foray into watches and my last purchase for a while. But the bug has really hit me after reading these forums. I was in the hunt for a waterproof watch as I travel quite often. In April I stopped by an IWC boutique in LA and came across the Charles Darwin AT in bronze. I quickly called my AD and sourced one before my next trip. After 2 watches in 3 months I established a relationship with one of the reps at my AD. I asked her about a Lange I read about on Hodinkee that looked interesting. I came in to look at it and determined it wasn't my style. A few weeks later she texted me a picture of a 5167 that came in randomly. I fell in love immediately. I went in the next day to take a look but the piece already generated alot of interest among their other clients and someone had already snapped it up. I got to try on the sold piece though because it was being shipped out of state. I was sold once it hit my wrist. I put down a deposit and waited for the next one. I got the call last week and now it's on my wrist.

Sorry for the long story, but that's my introduction. Here is the good stuff, though probably recycled since there are other 5167 owners here. I never thought I would own a PP now at 34 but I'm blessed to be in a place I can. Hope to be an active part of this forum.

Very nice choice, and those chrono IWC's are quite pretty too. Congrats!

How hard was it for you to come by your RG? The original SS piece I saw that was sold lasted a day at the AD. The RG has been on display for a bit now. I assumed that the RG would be a waitlist type item, unless my AD's demand is just an anomaly.

Thanks! Yes, I do still love my Charles Darwin. The bronze is simply unique with the patina that comes along with age. I take it to the beach and pool so it's definitely developed a patina. Definitely not for the faint of heart watching your $9K watch rust.

Easily the most comfortable watch I've ever owned and I've owned and sold them all, Rolex included. If only it got more respect, but I love it so that's all that matters... Enjoy !

Congatulations on the new watch and a 5167a at that. I don't have one but alot of friends swear how beautiful the watch and how confortable it is on the wrist. Enjoy this one
