Radiomir wire or 1940
 

Hello guys, this being my first post on this forum and faced with a decision i just can not make.

I have had a number of watches and found myself turn into a serial flipper a few years ago. However, over the last 2 i have worked my collection down to 7 watches which over all bases, dress, causal and just ones i love.

I had a Pam luminor (can not remember model) and whilst I loved it, it just did not quiet work, size and height with work attire.

Things have changed for me now and find myself drawn to the Radimor range. I know it will be either a 42 or 45, the 47 is just to big for me, but I want it to be more my casual watch.

So my problem is I can not decide between having the wire lugs or the 1940 style lugs. I just keep flipp flopping on this and just wanted first hand experience on who you feel the watches wear.

For me, 6.5" wrist, 42mm 1940's wear small and 45mm 1940's wear large. 45mm Radiomir (wires) are the sweet spot for me. If I wanted a dressier watch, the 42mm 1940's might hit the spot, but I'm waiting for a dial layout I like more. Only a matter of time with Panerai (love it or hate it).

Depending on the 47mm Radiomir, they can fit small. The 232 wears much smaller than a 424 for example. Both 47mm Radiomirs. You need to try them on to know.

own both a 232 and a 662 and they're totally different both 47mm.

to be honest the 232 is a classic piece, if I could only keep one of them it would be the 233.

go try on a few and see what fits you best.

the 42mm & 45mm never sang to me as much as these do.

Wire wear smaller than 1940s. I've got a 42 radiomir and absolutely love it, all the Panerai DNA without the bulk/size. Can dress it up or keep it casual.

Good advice you're getting. Try on if you can. If not possible, some dealers will send you a piece and let you return it if you don't like it, probably less shipping.

The wire lugs wear smaller, but are trickier when strap changing.

Thanks guys and the pictures. I just don't see I can get away with a 47. I over 6ft and 14st but have wrist the size of a girl.

I think it is best as suggested a few time to head into town in the next few weeks and try some on. Thanks again and the pics, they still not helped me make my mind up re wire lugs and 1940, they all look so good.
