Nominations for Rolex Ambassador

Keeping this thing going:

Who would you nominate to be a Rolex Ambassador??????????

Serious answers please and no lame responses like JJ :dummy::dummy::dummy:

I want a reasoned answer why you think they suit the brand.

My nomination would have been Johnny Cash...Rough, tough, hard knocked, maintained his integrity and a little bit mysterious.

Perhaps Lee Marvin as well for the same reasons (ignoring Paint Your Wagon)

I see you read the 4th line NO JJ's. He'd be my first choice, go get em JJ

Mind you it would be kinda cool to use JC, I hardly thing Rolex would use an ambassador who died September 12, 2003.

Paul Newman was a Rolox icon, can't see him appearing again in any ads.

Daniel Craig

First off, I think he's been campaigning for it a bit lately. LINK

Second, if he's really committed to taking "James Bond" back to the origins as Ian Fleming envisioned the character, that means Rolex. In no way is this meant to take anything away from the other brands featured or their value. But, let's face it: As of the novel On Her Majesty's Secret Service, which actually came after Dr. No was filmed with Sean Connery, Mr. Fleming specified a particular Rolex model as the personal choice of 007, and he did so w/ passion.

:read: If Mr. Craig decides to go in this direction, I'd even be willing to identify the correct Rolex model he'll need to perfect this image!

Third, it seems he is looking to establish himself in sort of a classic tough-guy image. Rolex is the consumate timeless watch.

Finally, it cuts ties with the more recent James Bonds and truly makes the character his own, personally. Intimately. Pierce Brosnan had and made Omega. Timothy Dalton had the Submariner Date. Roger Moore owned the digital era, most predominantly Seiko. Lazenby was the pre-Daytona chronograph. And Sean Connery, of course, the Submariner.

As a Rolex ambassador, Daniel Craig can say, "those were all actors' watches; I'm wearing what Fleming specified."

Eric Clapton's done a pretty good job so far, as have Brad Pitt and Tom Sellek. But my current vote is for the most visible (lately): Roger Federer. All have substance and integrity, as did Eisenhower and Churchill, who also wore and endorsed Rolex.

General Yeager is a personal hero of mine, by the way...

Great thread. I know lots of ideas are going to occur to me about this one.

For starters, I like explorers - so how about Ranulph Fiennes ?

I don't like the idea of a person being an ambassador, it would work better for me if it was associated with something of more worth. Maybe an art museum, historical or scientific project.
