PAM 510 vs PAM 359
 

Hi guys! A newbie here!

Wich one will u choose between a new PAM 510 and a used 359

I have been reading the forum and seems like the new 510 doesn't come with the sandwich dial and the 359 is discontinued, so I can't buy it new.

Regarding the movement I won't be wearing it everyday and taking into account that it will be my first Panerai I believe I have to go with a traditional manual movement. What do you think?

Well I have been doing some research and the 510 has been discarded I want a 1950 case :-)

Lets see if now some help me to decide between a PAM01312 or PAM00359


Should I go with the newest or trust the old P9000?

1312 vs 359? I'd go 1312 because the small non-3/6/9/12 numerals look wrong to me.

no I have not tried, is not a classic? what do you mean with "wears too heavy" ?

I was wrong on the 359 it is a 312 almost the same watch but different machine and a little slim, Am I right?

359 has the same case and movement as the 312. Differences are the fully polished case and dial style.

Depending on your wrist, it can wear thick and feel too heavy. But, for the lucky ones, it's a great fit and looks really good.

I strongly recommend that you try on the 44mm 1950 automatics. They have a thick case back that is quite small (area of contact with your wrist). The case itself is tall and heavy. Depending on the shape of your wrist, it can be quite unstable due to higher center of gravity. I know you are no longer looking at the 510, but those are amazing when it comes to comfort because they have a wide and thin case back. I personally found 47mm manual wind watches like 372 and 422 to be way more stable and comfortable than those 44mm 1950 automatics. My wrist is only a shade over 6.5", so that was quite the surprise.

1312 wears slightly better than the 312 because it is about 2.5mm shorter and slightly lighter.

I personally do not like that mix of large and small numerals on the 359 :)

having bought a PAM after many years of looking, I went with 44mm manual as the 1950 cases and auto's felt wrong. They are indeed very top-heavy unless I guess you have a large 'flat' wrist. Make sure you try them all on. As soon as a tried a manual I knew it was right. It was then just finding the dial/complications I wanted. I went base, tobacco dial and gold hands with a limited edition 390

I’ve been into Panerai since 2002 and owned a lot of different models over the years. My favorite and daily wear is the 560 followed very closely by the 424.

I too have small wrists so the slightly thinner and lighter newer model 1312 was perfect for me. I recently picked one up and have no regrets. Enjoy the hunt!
