How would you improve the model 114300

What would make this ref 114300 a better watch ? For me a 41mm case and the removal of the colour dots . I realy would like a straight forward watch without any trimmings and this is so close .

AEC 6 January 2018 04:22 AM

I would install the clasp from an Explorer because of its Easylink.

Colin10101 6 January 2018 04:37 AM

I agree with the removal of the dots.

I fully agree. The dots on mine I can live with. I don't really pay much attention to them. But an easylink clasp would be wonderful to have.

New 32xx movement would be good!

I think the dots give it a bit of style. I didn’t like it at first, but imagining the watch without it, the dial would get old and boring to look at real fast, imo.

Bingo.

I would keep the rhodium with sky blue dots, not sure of the blue and green however, maybe black would have been better.

Yup. Easy link. Been looking for a clasp for mine for a while

If I could, I would take the dials from the OP36 line and put them in the OP 39. I went back and forth between the two, and the lack of lume on the OP 39 (and the corresponding sort of 'meh' feeling of the non-lumed hour markers) turned me off. Went with the blue Arabic 3-6-9 OP 36 for no other reason than I kept going back to that dial.

All it needs is AR coating on that crystal. The rhodium dial is impossible to read in almost any lighting condition

WhiskyVerb 6 January 2018 03:09 PM

The dots are what I strongly dislike about the OP39. They look like a fad. I prefer a timeless look of Rolex. Without the dots, the OP39 would be awesome. It already has the same robust movement of the Explorer. But I can't imagine Rolex giving it the Oysterlock security feature of the 214270. OP has to remain the base model without extra features.

The 39 range needs the green dial. I am not fussy about an easy link as long as I have more dial choices.

This. The watch needs more lume. I'd then mod Mercedes hands onto it

Onx 6 January 2018 07:54 PM

I would swim the opposite way here. I had op39 in blue and after a while i wished it didnt have the dots and i would rather have the hourmarkers all lumed or none at all rather than 3 6 9. Oh and easylink clasp would be an upgrade too.

Yep! The OP36 dial is a great design, classic and with more lume. Would make the 39mm version perfect.

epc2 7 January 2018 12:31 AM

As a former owner of one , I'd say a better claps or half link, with a half link I got a good fit but not without it.

JCN 13 January 2018 06:46 AM

The blue dots on my rhodium 114300 don't bother me. They tend to blend into the background unless I really focus on them.

I do agree that legibility is a bit poor and non-existent in low light. Probably a better way to beef up the hands or lume.

dr3ws 13 January 2018 07:51 AM

Add a date to it and all hour markers with lume, wait.. that's called a datejust [emoji15]

hn4rolex 13 January 2018 08:01 AM

I had doubts with the green dots when I was buying mine but I am truly enjoying mine now. The green dots don't really jump out as much as the beautiful blue dial capturing my attention. For my wrist size, this 39mm is perfect.

I think the only thing I would have preferred would have been a full set of lumed index but then wondered if the dial will get too busy if that was the case.
