Would you trade

a 5070P + 5712 for a 5370P? All are complete and in mint condition.

waspy1 10 January 2019 10:56 PM

I’d keep the 5070P no matter what.

Well let’s think about this- “what would you gain?” The other piece is basically the same as what you have only 1 mm smaller. Plus you would give up the icon 5711 and I bet it would require some extra cash too. Even if it didn’t, this trade would not be a consideration for me . Just some thoughts. james in San Antonio tx :-)

Nope. Especially if 5712 may be discontinued

Where/When did you hear the 5712 may be discontinued?

One of my AD’s thats a sharp guy. Also some of my friends heard it.

Its because the movement is needed for higher value pieces.

It was speculated in the past that it would be a 2019 event i think.

Rsdecker971 11 January 2019 03:33 AM

I would definitely do this trade. I love living a life of regrets!

CamSLC 11 January 2019 03:55 AM

Love the 5070p. That would be a keeper for me.

Sam Philip 11 January 2019 12:05 PM

Very difficult choice. 5370P is a technical marvel, however I would keep the 5070P. The value of 5070P seems to be going up all the time and not many pieces are available on the market. Many believe only 175 - 200 5070Ps were produced during the production run. It would be difficult to obtain a mint 5070P if you regret the trade. On the other hand it is easy to obtain a 5370P even though technically it is an application piece.

If the movement is needed for higher value pieces will they discontinue 5230G/R, 7200, 6006G, 5738 as well?

I also heard that 5712A would be discontinued soon but unlikely due to a movement issue as Patek has been using Caliber 240 since 1977

goog53 11 January 2019 12:30 PM

Hell No. 5070P is king and 5370s they overproduced and tank at auction

mrpstl750 12 January 2019 01:57 AM

Would you feel the same about a 5070R?

AK797 12 January 2019 01:59 AM

5070p is rare and the 5712 is too now, but the 5370 is on another level, so I probably would.

soundserious 12 January 2019 03:00 AM

Yep, you’re moving into a new neighborhood there.

topcat30093 12 January 2019 04:08 AM

The DS is an amazing complication and the movement is stunning to look at.
But personally I wouldn't do it.
The 5070P is a classic and rare in itself and the 5712 is a cracking everyday watch.

I’d do it in an instant, 5070 not the prettiest piece with an awkward layout/over sized bezel and 5712 is riding high currently so a good time to cash in.
5370P is simply stunning.

mps354 12 January 2019 06:18 AM

Hard for me to part with any 5070, let alone the p

I would question that info from the AD. The movement in the 5712 was in several PM pieces such as the 5054 and 5055 which were very soft sellers when in production and can be had today in many cases below 20K USD. Some of the best Patek values out there albeit 36mm in size.

GB-man 12 January 2019 09:00 AM

I’d do that before I could exhale. Easy choice for me.

JJ WA 12 January 2019 10:21 AM

I would only trade my 5712 for a full retirement money that assures me a peaceful life with no financial concerns whatsoever. As for the 5070, well, it may be rare and such but I not too much into its case and bezel design - I tried hard to love it, but never could.

wulin 12 January 2019 10:51 AM

No. That is a losing trade.

codecow 12 January 2019 11:32 AM

I would, it’s a GC!
