Thank you to a special person & watch

Long story short, the watch featured was probably what started my WIS journey aged around 10 or 11, but until last week it had been long forgotten.
It wasn’t even mine; it was my best friend’s who was a couple of years younger and a spoilt brat! His Uncle was in the jewellery business and had access to cool brands. For his 9th or 10th birthday he received a calculator watch, one that you could play ‘number invaders’ on. The bastard!!! Fast forward 35 plus years and one of our members here, who had already offered advice on a separate issue, posted an image of these watches on another social media site. I commented and said how I was so jealous of my friend’s watch back in the early 80s. Within 1 week, I received a delivery from a land far away and received not 1 but 2 of these incredible watches. He wrote that by taking the best parts of each, there could be one perfect watch. I know this man is private and I won’t embarrass him, but thank you. It turns out a close contact works for a charity close to his heart and a donation will be given on his behalf. And the image..................it was posted by my 10 year old self  |
Only on TRF!!

That awesome!! Great story!

If only I’d known you could do that on a watch I might’ve become a WIS at a younger age.
As it is my earliest interactions with handheld technology was limited to typing “HELLO BOOBLESS” on a calculator. That is a cool watch. |
That brings back some memories .... I had the same watch as a kid
|
I remember when they were banned from the classroom! Unfair advantage in maths tests. Awesome feature that should have stayed
|
Great story. Some really special and giving folks around here.

This is what WIS is all about.
Can feel your happiness. Cheers |
Cool stuff, thanks for sharing

Cool watch.

Cool watch and story  Timex and Casio watches got me into this as a young child also. I've still got an appreciation for them to this day.

What a fantastic gesture by a fellow TRF member! Great story!
I had one of these in high school and I treasured it. So I know, as a kid, how exciting it was to get one of these beauties! |
