36mm looks great on 98% of the population above age 18. But yet I don’t own one. I should.

chinaski 9 September 2020 07:10 AM

When I bought my 14270 Explorer in June, I was a bit concerned about it being too small. It's an optical illusion. It's the PERFECT size.

Dr.Brian 9 September 2020 07:35 AM

Yes! They only look “too small” because we’ve been brainwashed by wearing larger watches for so long. There’s nothing wrong with a 36mm watch on a man and just because you could pull off a 45mm Panerai doesn’t mean that you have to.

I agree

Yes, agree and I think more or less 98% women are wearing 36mm. Some are still stuck in 31mm though! :chuckle:

JRell 9 September 2020 07:52 AM

So I used to think 36 was small. My wife tried on a 36 and it looked huge on her. My 41 didn’t look that much bigger on her. I think it is what you are more comfortable with, but 36 is not small.

I totaly agree with you, I also believe there is room for all size watches in people’s collections.

S’portEye 9 September 2020 07:57 AM

Yes, 36mm looks great on me. I ended up getting a 40mm DD about a month ago. I absolutely love the 40, but it does not really wear that much bigger than my older 36. It is a lot heavier though (which I like)

This. I love PAM, but a great 36mm watch is damn near perfect.

Bigblu10 9 September 2020 08:07 AM

7.5 inch wrist here. 40mm is my sweet spot. I really think 36mm would look too small on myself. If I were to go Day-Date it would be a 40, no contest.

I wore this every day for close to 30 years! It took a beating too. Now it sits so I'll give it to my daughter soon. I could see picking up an older DJ or Turn-O-Graph one day.

kieselguhr 9 September 2020 08:25 AM

I wore a 36mm DJ exclusively for years.

After wearing 40mm watches, it has become my preferred dial size due to improved visibility. I can glance for the time regardless of level of lighting.

I agree - For me, a small watch makes the bracelet the first thing I see when I look at my watch.

flytier 9 September 2020 08:35 AM

So, what is stopping you??

Totally agreed. Wore the 36 and 41 side by side and went with the former. No regrets. Still looks fabulous

HogwldFLTR 9 September 2020 08:43 AM

I feel that it looks small in my eye even on my 6.5in wrist. On others it looks fine (even 34mm). I just can't get my head wrapped around 36mm fwiw.

36mm is underrated. Wouldn't own too many but 1 in the collection is fine.

Waaay less than 98% of women wear 36mm or larger.

Lionprince 9 September 2020 09:25 AM

I'm still looking for a 36mm ExpI

Seddyspaghetti 9 September 2020 09:26 AM

I prefer 36mm DD over 40mm DD40. Same with 36mm explorer

g00n 9 September 2020 09:57 AM

100% agree. Classic size, looks great on everyone.

subprimero 9 September 2020 10:04 AM

My wrist is 7.25". 36mm is my minimum size, but I agree, for the majority of people it is perfectly fine.

Variety is the spice of life, I wear a 36mm Explorer & a 39mm Explorer, 36mm Datejust & a 39mm OPND....all are most excellent

Exact same size wrist and totally agree with you. I have a 36mm DJ that I'm hanging on to for my kid - it's way too small for my liking. Only reason I never bought a 1016. My Daytona honestly wears smaller than I like and gets minimal wrist time. I really prefer 40-42mm.

Dropped off my 36 DJ and my 114270 for service last month. Can’t wait to get them back from RSC!

kearez 9 September 2020 10:50 AM

Agreed. My favourite watches from the Rolex collection. Great variety of dials.

JonaG 9 September 2020 10:56 AM

I agree, my 114270 looked great on wrist. The problem was that as more 40mm’s crept into the collection the 36 became less compelling and it fell out of rotation as every time I wore it I really wished I’d put my sub on or something. This would be my fear of going 36mm again.
