First Rolex (2004 DJ36 REF#16234)
 

Hi everyone, I have been browsing the forums and have already learned a lot!

I just purchased my first Rolex and so far am very happy with my choice. I did have some questions regarding the bracelet and how to tell if there is any extensive stretch. Additionally, I hear a “ping/click” type sound when I turn my wrist. I initially was concerned that it was coming from the case. However, after isolating the noise, it is coming from the bracelet, specifically where the bracelet meets the case in between the lugs on the 12 o’clock side.

All sound and look normal to you?

It could be that the springbars are the wrong size or are worn, and are shifting in the holes making the clicking noise. I've seen this before, so it might be worth having your watch checked out by a Rolex trained watchmaker.

Regarding the stretch, yours looks to have moderate stretch for its age. As others stated, it has hollow links, so its prone to this over time.

To minimize the stretch, wear the bracelet snug, and wash it with dish detergent and lukewarm (not hot) water once a week. This will minimize the amount of movement in the bracelet links, and the cleaning keeps out the dirt that acts as an abrasive in the link holes.
