Panerai ferrari
has anyone got one. I've seen a couple recently and quite like the scuderia flyback.Does the ferrari logo detract from the Panerai brand. I like the yellow detail

they are all too Buzy.. a lot cheaper for the same movements.. not that popular in my opinion.. i don't know why they really make them??

The problem for me is that they seem to be like for like with certain Panerai models, yes the design is different, but this flyback is the same type of watch and dial layout as the Panerai 212, and i think the Panerai is actually cheaper. Again the problem this causes is that the 212/213 and other Panerai's are the least popular Panerai models, so ferrari were on to a loser straight away.
I think the whole line needed to be thought out a little better, not just 'we'll change the dial a little, stick it in a different case and send it out'. My personal opinion is that choose whatever you prefer, if you like the ferrari over the panerai then go for it, i think the ferrari models are nicer than the 212/213 as well, it's just the price and the depreciation that stops me ever considering one. |
Chu88y - don't do it. Not unless you don't plan on ever getting rid of it. They hold HORRIBLE value, I have seen them at wholesale shows at 55% off retail (or more!!!), they are considered Panerai's 'dogs'. Same movements, higher list prices, but much lower re-sale values - go figure.

what I like is the yellow detail and the crown, plus the yellow/black leather sets it off. I don't know much about Panerai's tbh but i've been offered one at a good price.I don't like the crown on the Radiomir so wouldn't pay good money for one for that reason. As for the depreciation factor, I guess thats down to buying at the right price.

My favorite dog is my Fer 24 by far. I like it better than any PAM or Rolex. It just works for me. If I had a smaller collection and had to choose one watch it would most likely be a PAM. If you buy what you like then re sale is not as important. I also own the yellow dial model and wear it frequently. I obviously like them and find them of the same caliber as a regular PAM. I do not flip watches so I buy what I like and will wear. I would say if the price is right and you like it do not hesitate.

No worries no offense taken. I was just rolling with it. I agree they are not for everyone and would not buy more than a few. The 24 may hold its value well due to quantity and vintage movement but the rest tank. My taste have definitely changed over the past year and PAMs are loosing their luster. I recently purchased a PAM 26 and have not taken it out of the box. It is next to my 270 collecting dust. I am just waiting for the mood to hit. If I did not own a Ferrari I still may have purchased the yellow dial but not the 24.

Panerai and Ferrari seem like an odd parternship to me, apart from the fact they are both Italian. I think Panerai is a great watch though, and hope to own one some day.

I think PAM Ferrari is nice too.

im a tat simple, if it smiles at you, and indeed you can get one for a good price, and not interested in flipping it , go for it :-) there good watches.

To me PAMs and Ferrari watches share some basic similarities but are different animals. I just simply think they made to many. The market is smaller and people will most likely not buy multiple models. The busy dials do not bother me due to styling after the cars. To me Panerai has drifted somewhat away from pure simplicity with their new in house mvmt line up(am/pm gmt hand with no scale 9 on face power reserve indicator etc) To each their own I guess.

Chu88y: a great thing about Ferrari watches is the bands and boxes.
Black leather with yellow underside and yellow lacquered box: they look stunning. Prices are very good now, very low. |
Its strange how the Breitling Bentley models seem to do so well and I think they look great, yet the PAM Ferrari models seem to get no love.
I may buy one some day simply because they look great. I don't know. For some reason these seem to have gotten some kind of stigma that only people who own a Ferrari would own one, whereas the Bentley is for everyone. And I don't think I've ever seen more than a handful of Bentleys in the world, but I've seen hundreds of Ferraris. Weird.... |
I just got one yesterday on the way home form the office!!!

I am just dying waiting on my PAM 320 to get here, and yesterday I found out that it is going to be delayed at least another month. So I bought this to hold me over.
I own the car that the watch was designed after. I took some pictures to show you the design cues that were taken from the car. |

They do look nice, but I have a hard time wearing a watch that is co-branded.

Ironically, the more complicated Ferrari watches (rattrapante & flyback) were what started my love affair with Panerai. But once I started appreciating the simplicity of the classic Panerai dials, my taste dissolved to this more simple model FER00002. The large numbers are eye-catching and the lack of multiple complications make its size even more absurd and stunning. e |

Just a few pics will take pics of 24 soon
|
Oh the stradale is so sweet. I went to buy one and my wife completely freaked when she saw the interior. She couldn't believe Ferrari would make a car without the leather she had grown accustomed to. If only I could afford two! Ge those 24 pics posted soon!
|
Very nice indeed.... but i need the car to justify the watch....
|
I will buy a Ferrari PAM on the very same day I buy a Ferrari... Might be a while. But, I do like them...
|
But but, it should be included with Ferrari if you bought the car!

Will they eventually get some value back now the contract is over

I´ve a FER000018 and i do recall hearing the value will eventually go up because no one is making them anymore as the contract ended/ was disolved between Panerai and Ferrari |
