hey so the last few months I have been looking after a Rolex, a Rolex oyster perpetual datejust. and my friend now tells me he knows he a guy who got one, and I've had a look at it and it looks great and all. its used obviously, but I have had some episodes with this guy and my gut feeling says something else.

I will post some photos of it, please tell me guys what you think

Trust your gut and pass.

minute_man 16 April 2023 10:53 PM

Hard pass on this one. I won't get into the details but it's a fake.

BLACKHORSE 6 16 April 2023 10:54 PM

Buy the seller. If your gut is telling you something, you should probably listen to it.

If you take the watch to a watchmaker you can have them open up the back and they can confirm that everything is correct. Does it come with box and papers?

Run... fast. With friends like that, who needs enemies

Old Geezer 16 April 2023 11:09 PM

Pass. Why deal with someone you don't trust ? A DJ is not a hard piece to find both new and used.

Dr.Brian 17 April 2023 12:46 AM

That’s a no go.
Honestly you don’t even have to look at the photos. This deal was bad before you posted the fauxjust.

That is definitely fake. Pass

If your “friend” is any sort of enthusiast of Rolex I’d burn the friendship yesterday. If they have no clue and were just sending you a Rolex they saw for sale through someone they know I wouldn’t expect them to know the illegitimacy of the watch.

This could go either way.

My experience. A guy that is not a watch guy showed me a “Rolex” one of his friends was selling on FB. It was supposed to be a meteor dial GMT Pepsi. It was not. I told him the watch was not authentic and he said many unkind words about the guy selling it. He sent him a message about it and the guy defended his position even though there were many flaws called out. I don’t blame the guy that showed it to me. He just knows I like Rolex watches.

My 2 cents - cut that “friend” off and don’t look back :2:

I think we’ve all been there and done that with family members and so called friends.

For everyone’s knowledge — can someone point out the details that give it away as fake? Helpful knowledge for us all.

No. It just helps the dirtbags that make these pieces.

Google the random ID on the rehaute?

Is that M742138?

Hiya,

I am on the verge of purchasing a Rolex Milgauss, but just can't figure out if the seller is legit or not.

Would LOVE some help from you pro's, as this is my first expensive watch and I want it to go smoothly.

Serial number is: M742138.

amh 19 April 2023 11:05 PM

I don't think any of you can definitively say it's fake or not. Those pics are bad.

i don't think you can definitively rule out eyeglasses

I think your friend is not doing you dirty… your friend is simply dirty if he knows the watch is fake and still introduces you to buy it.

brandrea 20 April 2023 03:17 AM

Time for a new friend.

rmwill 23 April 2023 06:52 AM

Misaligned rehaut. Took one second to see.

This is probably the most likely scenario. A friend might be hoping for a little commission by putting the buyer and seller together but a collusion between seller and middleman over an inferior item would be fairly uncommon, particularly between friends...even with friends like the OP describes.

As someone who is scared to buy anywhere but from AD because I don't think I could spot a fake, I can tell this is a fake even with the poor quality photos.
