1950 Case Comparison Test---PAM 217 VS PAM 312...hope you enjoy!
The 47mm PAM 217 case looks substantially larger than the 44mm PAM 312 case-when you are looking at the watch on your wrist. The font size of the dial numbers are significantly larger on the 217...helped by the domed crystal that distort the numbers even more and makes them appear larger. The s cleaner dial of the PAM 217 helps it appear larger than the slightly busier dial of the PAM 312

In the picture below, the PAM 312 (top watch) seems even thicker than the .4mm difference suggests. I think it is due to the thicker brushed portion on the side of the case on the PAM 312, but more importantly the domed crystal protrudes out on the 217 to make it thicker. The actual steel portion of the PAM 312 case is probably 2 mm thicker than the PAM 217 case. Notice also the thicker but shorter lugs of the PAM 312. The longer lug length of the PAM 217 contributes to the watch appearing larger while on the wrist. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...DSC_0050-1.jpg IMO--The once and future king is presented below. The watch is amazing on the wrist and nothing else except its twin the PAM 127 is even close in the entire Panerai catalog. This is truly a watch that really lives up to the cliche term..."You have to see it on your wrist to believe me" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...DSC_0043-2.jpg |

Tommy,great pics !!! Excellent comparison shots.!! :clap::thumbsup:
The 127 and 217 remains some of the nicest ss PAMs ever created.I had the priviledge to have the 127 and one of the absolute grails, the 203,on the wrist for a few minutes at a GTG.They look and feel great on the wrist.Not much else can compare with them on the wrist. If I can find a 127 in my part of the woods,I would buy it.:thumbsup::cheers: |
