5712 1/a discontinued

The long time favorite is gone leaving the 5726 the last steel. I never thought they would do it but I guess it will be replaced by a white precious metal or do we think that configuration is now gone except for the rose?

schwartz914 1 February 2025 10:00 PM

5990 is steel too

Goose 104 1 February 2025 10:34 PM

I bet they will release a white gold version. Bad news, this was my grail [emoji17]

Mine, too. I was in grad school and didn’t have two nickels to rub together when it was first released. By the time I could start a Patek collection, the market was bananas. C’est la vie.

Fair well to one of the best SS Nautilus to ever be in production. Sad but expected. Surely it will eventually come back in white gold and an updated $80-100K retail price. Now it’s just a matter of time for the 5726 and 5990.

Sad to see it discontinued but it almost had a 20 year run.
Such a wonderful watch.
Contrary to others I don’t see it coming back as the movement is old.

dpj17 2 February 2025 01:21 AM

Best Nautilus imho, was inevitable I guess.

Ubiquitous1984 2 February 2025 01:41 AM

The greatest steel sports watch IMO. The 5712 was a true icon.

Icon lol I don’t think anyone even knows this watch exists outside of forums and redbar meetups.

The ugliest nautilus in the line-up. Good riddance if you ask me. It definitely won't be missed by me and I sincerely hope the second hand value will plummet.

I’m old enough to remember when majority hated the 5712

Sounds polarizing:chuckle:

Imo it’s the best nautilus. The last steel with complications and slim profile and way more interesting dial than 5711. Thankfully I had a hunch and went grey just 2 weeks ago. It was my grail and I’m so glad I did it.

Did the market prices already increase in response to the discontinuation?
I would have thought that because there’s so many from a long production run that prices would stay relatively similar.

And this movement was cased up in a bunch of strap watches prior to the Nautilus and most were very soft sellers.

The 5711 NEVER plummeted in value, if you want to compare the prices to early 2022 then ALL watches plummeted, but that would not be correct.

The 5711 is still trading nearly double of what would be the retail now (mid to high $40's) since the retail of the 5712 was in the low $50's.

I bought my 5711 in 2017 for $22K and sold it 2 weeks ago for $89K and actually bought a 5712.

For it to be plummeted it would have to be very close to retail or worse below and in the case of the 5711 that would be $45-55 and the 5712 $55-65 or something like that.

Felt like it was coming for the last 3-4 years. Great reference…and like the rose gold version even better.

GB-man 3 February 2025 06:30 AM

Dealers with lots of inventory can’t wait to trim while others are pretending people will now pay 130k lol

That’s what I see anyways.

It’s not a reflection of the watch just the market for wildly overpriced nautilus references.

macplee 3 February 2025 08:48 AM

i tried on all the nautiluses - and found the 5712 the best - that is not what i expected. sits so nice - not thick and the sunburst blue really makes time easy to read which was the biggest surprise.

It’s still too early to tell, but I noticed some dealers have raised their asking prices slightly. It’s a Patek Nautilus afterall and a very popular model at that, so supply still very limited even with a long run.

Prices obviously softer now since 2022 but have noticed some pick up in prices across the board over past month for other popular models as well.

Without doubt that is a beautiful wrist shot.

I remember when my initial impressions of the 5712 (based on pictures) were very negative because of its seemingly awkward asymmetry…but then I saw it by chance in person on a gentleman in a store and was immediately spellbound by those same features I had hated. Go figure.
