I would refer you to the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for allowable weight handling.
In Oz:
According to legal manual handling guidelines, the maximum safe lifting weight for a woman is 16kg. And for men, the maximum safe lifting weight is 25kg.
Whether a driver will actually help will be up to them.:chuckle:
Uber drivers are generally not obligated to help passengers with luggage, though many do so as a courtesy. While they may help with opening trunks and potentially loading/unloading, it's not a requirement of the service. Passengers are encouraged to request larger vehicle options like UberXL if they have a lot of luggage, and to handle their bags themselves if possible.
No Obligation:
Uber and drivers are contractors, not professional porters or chauffeurs. Their primary responsibility is to provide transportation, not luggage handling.
Many drivers will help with luggage as a gesture of good service, especially for airport trips or when they see a passenger struggling.
Passengers are ultimately responsible for their own belongings and should be prepared to handle their luggage themselves.
For trips with a lot of luggage, it's recommended to request an UberXL or similar service that can accommodate more items.
If you anticipate needing help with luggage, it's a good idea to communicate this to the driver when requesting the ride or upon arrival.
Drivers may decline to help with heavy or bulky items if they feel it could cause injury or damage to their vehicle.
While drivers are not required to help with luggage, tips are always appreciated for any extra service provided.
We have used Uber on occasions and the driver has always stowed our cases.
No mandatory tipping is required in Oz.
