I want to like it but it’s really expensive and I think the engraving could be a bit nicer, although I appreciate the hand touch.

Smaller than 40mm and manual movement? Have we gone back to the nineties?
I really quite like that, though I admit I wish the brown dial was a little more intricate. |

It’s ok….
But for me breguet is the way to go when you’re looking for a dress watch or a complicated watch Although I do have a gold type XX…. For sport watches I would look at other brands |

Breguet and JLC are two of my favourite brands but they don’t do sports watches as good as their other lines nor as good as other brands sports watches. Hard to pass over something like an overseas for this.

While I congratulate Breguet on its 250th anniversary, I can’t help but feel that the brand has deliberately overlooked its core enthusiasts — especially those of us who have followed and supported the Type XX lineage for years. Back in 2019 and 2021, Breguet released two “Only Watch” Type XXs that truly spoke to the community. Despite the hype, boutiques in NYC and LA had multiple pieces just sitting in stock, and the brand even had to push promotions through Hodinkee. I was even told, “Get your money ready, they’re finally listening.” So I went to the 250th anniversary event in June. But instead of a long-awaited historical re-issue of the Type XX in steel, the focus was on a historical reissue in gold. Once again, it felt like a miss. I even voiced my disappointment directly to CEO Kissling, and his answer was simply: “Be patient.” My response: “Patient? For me, that completely breaks the spirit of the Type XX. It’s a tool watch, not a dress watch. I wish I could understand. But for the life of me, I can’t see why Breguet’s management seems unwilling to truly respect their enthusiasts. I work in a data-driven profession, and I constantly advise clients that decisions are only as good as the data behind them. Which makes me wonder: what data is Breguet relying on? Do they even look at the right signals, or are they ignoring the very community that actually knows and loves these watches? Sure, maybe they’ll release a stainless steel version in the coming years. But if history is any guide, it’ll be priced outrageously, tweaked just enough to alienate us again, and miss the mark all over. Plus, for the 250th, a PM version does feel a bit more "special" (at least to me). At least it sounds like the new CEO is promising something down the road you might like. :thumbsup: |
