The modern DayDates have a relatively constant shaped deployant. After you figure out how many adjustable links you need for the watch to be comfortable. I follow this : If I have an even amount of links, I put an equal amount of links on both the 12 and 6 o’clock side. If it ends up being total links that are an odd number, I put one extra on the 12 o’clock side such that the watch is positioned a little more towards your chest, so it is easier to read.
