I probably spent $2K on jewelry and it wasn’t for purchases just to build a “fake relationship,” I was buying them for gifts anyways. If an AD is holding you to a “dollar amount” to get a SS model then yes that is a fake relationship and the best advice I could give to anyone in the watch community would be to move on to a new AD
