I would think that if the pushers were pressed accidentally, that both would be pushed at the same time. And if this happens, then nothing happens as there is protection in place to prevent this, as it would otherwise damage the movement (I think this is true, but don't quote me without research, as I may make you look daft!).

Great to know, thank you both for your input! I like the 5164 too, but let’s face it the side hour pushers are integrated way more beautifully on the 5990. One might argue most most onlookers wouldn’t even realize they are actual buttons they are designed so well. As for the 5164 the gap between the buttons is kind of ... well not as refined let’s say. IMO of course.
