Unless you're eqating it to other desirable models that enthusiast collectors desired like 5070 and 5970, most of those people were after more complicated watches.
And as far as the Patek magazine goes, it's issued quarterly to owners who buy from an AD, the only watch that's on more back covers is the ladies 24, hardly a slow mover.

Up until about 3 years ago, a 5712 is relatively obtainable from AD or salon. I inquired about a 5711/1a at about that time and was told that it would not be happening for me but if I want a 5712, it can happen.
This is just like SS sports watch. Up until recent years, only SS Daytona was unobtainium. Most of the SS Rolex sports watch I got even had a small 5-10% discount.
And Ladies 24 is a hot seller? I guess everything is a hot seller now. I just found out the 7118/1a we got last year from AD as our first purchase is now also a hot watch.
