GMT-Master Help needed!

So, a couple months ago I turned 17 (seems a little out of place for a Rolex, no?) and I got a Rolex for my birthday. The watch itself was my grandfather's watch before he passed away a few years ago, and my father thought it the appropriate time to pass something of this significance on to me. Being a tad inquisitive, I tried to do a little background research on the watch, between asking my dad and checking on the internet. I found out all the basics about the GMT with the dial and such. However, the dial on the watch I have does not turn at all. My dad insists that it has always been as such, however, everything I've read about the GMT seems to contradict this. The watch itself is quite old (purchased in 1965 I believe), and has been fully rebuilt at least once. Another thing is that my dad says that it's a special military edition of the GMT, made to show military time only, however, that doesn't make much sense since the GMT was originally a pilot's watch. Here's a relatively bad photo of the watch (taken on a cell phone since I can't find a camera at the moment).
