I love that watch. I owned the 2008 black dial version until recently, same as you. To me, it's the last of the Rolex tool watches. It doesn't look like an item of jewelry, it looks solid, well made, and functional.

It was my companion and accompanied me on my travels across the world. I do regret parting with it now and I would say that one should never ever sell a Rolex watch from one's collection unless absolutely necessary. They're easy to part with and much more difficult to acquire. I did however trade my Explorer II for a 126710BLRO GMT Master II (Pepsi). I wouldn't have been able to buy the Pepsi GMT without trading in the Explorer as they're f**king expensive secondhand.

The GMT with it's bright shiny bezel and case, to be honest, hasn't really wowed me. I've found the whole experience underwhelming. I've had much more joy and pleasure from my Tudor reverse panda Chrono, it gets most of my wrist time and I got a total wow factor when I opened the box of the Tudor for the first time. I'll stick with the GMT, it is what it is and I do need a GMT in my collection and what better GMT to have than a brand new Rolex Pepsi.
