Normal stuff Mike. Visual perception of the human eye and how the brain 'translates' input data. The high-end video display and the film/movie industry realized that colors 'outside the screen' and colors within a scene affects the perception of the dominant color. If you're really curious (and geeky), there's plenty of data. Here's one datapoint source.
