Ed, I just finished watching "Eugene Onegin" (filmed at the Met) last night. Oh my gosh - I wish I had been able to see it live. Heck, that would have required me to possess more than a passing cognizance of opera two years ago.

I'm going to send the kids out with hubby, invite a couple of girlfriends over, and watch it again with some dessert and a bottle of wine.

I missed the Met version. Saw it at Washington Opera a few years ago. Russian opera takes some getting used to, but once you do, it's very powerful.

Do you get the live HD performances in your area? There are some really good ones coming up next season.
