Tennis anyone?
Just spent a couple of days @ the US Open - didn't want to come home tonite!
Players that impressed me the most:
MELANIE OUDIN - what a spitfire!! At only 17, she's a serious threat on the Court ... although Maria is #1 in my book, I'm not certain who I'll be rooting for in Saturday's match! Besides her obvious sports talent, her polite & genuine charm, demeanor & off court presence is 101%! Even when she lost her (mixed doubles) match, she signed autographs & actually looked up at her fans! Class Act to go with the talent - America has another champ in line to follow the Williams sisters!
CAROLINE WOZNIACKI - a great player whose off court presence is even more admirable. After a well fought (& won) doubles match, a tired, sweat soaked Wozniacki could not have been more respectful of her admirers. Generous with autographs and actually looking at her fans, she was also more patient than could be reasonably expected in actually stopping for quick pics. ANOTHER CLASS ACT!!!
VICTORIA AZARENKA - an understated talent who was not having the best of luck the past few days - I know she is capable of much better. I think she also has great commercial appeal for endorsements ... but her after match interaction with fans leaves much to be desired. When she loses, she displays frustration/anger (at herself) too openly (imho) ... she picks up very abruptly & exits arena as fast as possible. When she wins, she is slightly better .. she scribbles a few autographs as if it is an effort for her ... all mechanical, no warmth, eye contact or personality. POLISH YOUR PUBLIC, VIC & YOU'LL BE A PERFECT CHAMP!
MISS SHARAPOVA - was not able to get back into Ashe in the evening to see my absolute #1 favorite as there no tickets to be had! I had a chance to buy 1 ticket at 11:00AM, but thought I would hold off till 2 tickets together became available - HA!- that won't happen again! GOOD LUCK MARIA - hope you are ready because Melanie O. is going to give you a real run on Saturday!
Already can't wait for September 2010!!!
