Well, they figured it out. Wife died suddenly of respiratory failure, secondary to Hanta Virus, days before Gene died of cardiac arrest, from severe heart disease. Apparently, Gene had pretty severe Alzheimer’s, and was incapable of calling anyone for help. So, poor Gene was alone and helpless for days before he died. So, both died of natural causes. Verdict is still out on the dog, though he was in the crate, because he had undergone a medical procedure recently. Very sad that no one had checked on them, for several weeks. Of course the Hanta Virus finding is pretty scary, too.
