I can understand the savoir-faire and the love for art, but these still costs a hundred grand and above... When talking about a watch this expensive without complications, it's always nice to have in mind it still is worth something so I'm trying to understand where is the appeal ? Did I miss something ?

In my view, the RHC that you go for has to truly resonate with you. My AD said he would put me up for one, and I got close last year, but the theme (the billiards players) just didn’t resonate with me enough. If there is another alpinism / mountain theme in marquetry or enamel, that would put me over the ledge. But that is my greatest passion, and to have that passion represented on a watch would be incredibly meaningful. (ie, something with Chamonix, like the Aiguille du Midi or something, would be a instant purchase). Short of something meaningful, I pass.
