I’d like to get some advice on a decision I’ve been struggling with. I currently own a Vacheron Constantin Overseas in gold with a silver dial, which I purchased directly from the boutique. I had also been on the waiting list for the 4500V blue dial in steel, but as many of you know, the 4500V has now been replaced by the 4520V.
I've recently been offered the 4520V blue dial through the boutique—available for immediate purchase or with a deposit to secure one later this year. I’ve tried both the 4500V and 4520V on my wrist and found both to be very wearable and comfortable.
Now here’s the dilemma: I’ve also been offered a brand new 4500V blue dial on the grey market for pounds 20K. It’s still in stickers, but without warranty as it was never registered. . So the decision comes down to:
Option 1: Buy new from the boutique at pounds 24100K – full warranty, peace of mind, and a relationship with the brand.
Option 2: Buy grey market at pounds 20K – save 8K, but no warranty or VC after-sales support.
The grey market piece is in excellent condition and appears untouched, but I’m torn between saving money and having the security that comes with a boutique purchase.
Would really appreciate any thoughts, advice, or experiences from others who’ve faced similar decisions.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry my math failed me. The difference is 4.1k pounds or 8k?
If it is 8k or roughly 30% from the MSRP for a stickered watch from 2023, I would go gray.
If it is 4.1k or about 17-18% of the price it is a different story. It all depends on how you value new, slightly update design and warranty. As well as how special that watch will be for you. For a watch that is important and special I would recommend boutique experience. For one of the many - gray market will do just fine.
