My son is 18 in a few days time......I thought about passing on the Rolex that is destined for him eventually........however I have decided that he is not ready yet....I do not feel he is mature enough....the watch destined for him is on my wrist now and will remain there (or in the safe) for the next three years......at 21 I will reconsider.......I got my first at 23, they had to sit me down in the local AD because I was shaking so badly, I bought the first one myself.......if your family consider you ready for a Rolex at 16 then that's great, you must be a very grown up young man, hats off to you.....my first was my avatar....the watch going to my eldest son (eventually) is the same 16030 model but a black dial.......a SS DateJust would be a very good starting point....just the right size for young man's wrist....classy....tough....timeless.....I still love mine after well over 20 years
