This thread poses a loaded question. Instead of asking which watch to get, the OP asks which watch to get for a 16th birthday. Very few of us have experienced this priveledge nor are we inclined to offer it to our children. That's why you see some hot comments. I would offer my opinion, but I have no idea what watch is appropriate for a 16 year old. Perhaps divert the funds to a Porsche?
