Okay, I definitely go against the grain on this one. I have a 6.5"+ wrist. My 40mm Panerai (which is the PAM 48) is the biggest I can imagine going. I know the coolest styles and straps come in the 44mm. I also know that guys who wear the 44mm - even those with small wrists - get used to wearing them. However, IMHO, it doesn't change the fact that they are out of proportion for an average to smaller sized wrist. Unless you want to look like you are a r-e-a-l-l-y trendy guy and/or someone who wants a lot attention to his wrist, I'd stick with the 40mm if you have smaller wrists. I have a conservative job and run in conservative circles. I feel like I'm pushing it with even the 40mm. Personally, I think my Explorer II, which isn't a small watch, fits my wrist much better than my 40mm Panerai. Can't imagine going even bigger than the 40mm Panerai.
